| Dita you are obviously either very dim or just on the wind up.
I will just repeat one more time in plain english;
Warrington had a squad/team more than capable of winning both the CC and GF. To not make either final is a major disappointment and makes for a very poor season which showed so much promise. Ask Smith or the players, im sure they would agree, in fact if they were honest I reckon they all thought that we were going all the way to GF success. Why do you think Briers and Clarke were in tears, they know they have just fluffed their best chance of GF glory thats why.
If you think the season has been good then you epitomise everything thats bad about sport. Sport is for winning not just taking part. We should have won something and didn't and dont try and make out the league leaders shield was winning something cos we all know its pretty much worthless.

 .....I watch sport to be entertained, first and foremost, and I have been royally entertained this year.....Of course the players will be disappointed, its not like they will simply shrug their shoulders and troop off, and for Clarke and Briers it should be slightly more devastating because they know they don't have many more chances to get to a Grand Final.
It seems to me that you are one of those who has been totally spoilt by our Challenge Cup successes and seem to think we have an automatic right to win the big prizes.....Just remember, there are 3 prizes to win per season, and in the last 3 seasons we have won at least 1 of those on offer....Ok, this year its the lesser of the 3 ( a decision manufactured by Sky), but simply finishing the top of the table after a tough 27 rounds of rugby is a huge acheivement in itself, even if those in charge refuse to acknowledge it.

| The concern I have is that was the best team we have assembled but have come up without either piece of silverware. Will we be as good next year? Not sure, as Matt King has been an absolute warrior this year and is not being replaced. The new signings are a little underwhelming and some of our key players could well be playing their last season.
Hope the last couple of seasons are not as good as it was going to get.

| Quote Colin_Fishwick="Colin_Fishwick"I think Smith will leave when its good for him and no one else. He came to Warrington when a lot of the ground work had been done ala his time at Leeds. When its time for rebuilding it will be goodnight and goodbye from Mr Smith. He is a very smart cookie.'"
Agree with you mate Smith rode on the coat tails of the work Dean Lance and Daryl Powell had done at Leeds, then in 2007 he realised there would be no more trophies in that Leeds side so he jumped ship to leave it for McLennan to deal with. Then he saw we were on the cusp of success under Jimmy Lowes at the start of 2009 and knew the time to join us.
I reckon we need a British coach to stop our obsession with Aussies how about Phil Clarke? He talks a lot of sense on Sky and he knows the game inside out and he won everything as a player. I reckon get Clarke in and he could sign some available British players like Hock and Gleeson and give our fans something to be excited about and lift the current gloom.

I'm not really concerned about our recruitment as yet....Next year's squad looks strong enough to challenge the top 4 again. King will be a miss, but I'm looking forward to the development of Rhys Evans to be honest, it will be a big year for him.
My main concern is when Tony Smith decides to leave, and that we replace him with a top class coach....We spent a few years with a good squad and an inferior coach under Cullen and Lowes and those were true examples of under acheivement and caused true disappointment, in comparison with the supposed disaster Mr Fishwick refers to.
I just hope that Mr Moran has learnt his lesson and that he realises the importance of having the best possible coach to look after the signings and promising youngsters we will undoubtedly recruit in the coming years.

Thats pretty much how i view things, Matt King will be a massive loss and he won't be replaced with a player anywhere near the same quality, its not just his ability in being able to finish in impossible looking situations, its his defence and constant work rate in bringing the ball out that will equally be missed.
Brett Hodgson looks very brittle, i'd be very suprised if we got more than 60% of the season from him. Chris Riley can play fullback and he's been in outstanding form but he's no extra stand off in attack like Brett Hodgson, Ratchford will need time to settle into the club along with the rumoured new position of him playing fullback.
Our senior players will be a year older, SL is a long hard season including the challenge cup so its going to be a big ask for players like Moz, Lee Briers and David Solomona to keep up their form for another long grueling season.
Its the fringe players that concern me, i don't see the likes of Matty Blythe, Lee Mitchell and Tyrone McCarthy being much of a threat either from the bench or in a starting 13. Hopefully some of the other young guns are ready for the step up like Ben Evans and James Laithwaitwe just to name 2 along with the obvious ones like Gareth O'Brien who looks a talent and Rhys Evans.
I think we'll be weaker next season, like Mark i see this seasons squad as being our best ever squad of players that ive ever seen at Warrington, this year was more than a realistic chance of winning a grand final, we basically blew it when the chips were down.

We were trying to think of a player who could replace King and quite frankly we couldn't come up with any names either inside or outside the club.
