| Quote Michigan red="Michigan red"Millward would be a step backwards as don't rate him, I'd bud again for Chase and Clarke though to see if they except a joint cash offer.'"
I'm dubious that we ever did bid for Chase to begin with. Firstly it's pretty well known that the England international won't be able to get a work permit at another English club, as proved by Hull's aborted attempts to sign him. Secondly, Farish was very dismissive of Chase as a potential target at the recent FR meeting.
Clark, however, would be a massive statement of intent. I get the feeling though that if Cas gave any notice of a likelihood of selling him, then he'd be able to take his pick of just about any club in SL (and probably a few in the NRL).
Very surprised to see Millward going though, not because of results but because of financial constraints in paying him off.

| Didn't chase get married recently? Sure I heard his visa probs are sorted now. Also why sign clark, that would be another hooker on the books. We just got rid of one, we have 2 on the books and one out on loan. Surely other areas need improving first. ie scrum half and centre

| Hull spent a fortune on lawyers to get around the ruling to not issue Chase a VISA - not going to happen

Now it is confirmed Millward has left Castleford it makes it very interesting as both he and Sean Long have mutual respect for each other.( Read it a few times, somewhere.Comes from their time at Saints together )
After the tragedy of the death of his teenage son last year,I can only feel sorry for Ian Millward.
It would be better for him to be very busy and heavily involved in rugby league.Working with Sean Long and our young players may be hugely beneficial to him.
Serendipity, perhaps ? The lesser of 2 evils ? I think his wife is from Leigh,so at least he will be a little more 'local' for us than a Yorkshireman, having spent time at Saints,Wigan and Leigh.

| While we will all feel sorry for Ian Millwards tragic loss last year, and accept that he is pally with Sean Long, that is no reason for us to give him a job. How many times on this forum have we heard complaints about the past regime giving jobs for the wrong reasons, and keeping people in jobs that they were not upto. We have a new owner, with high ambition who has already proven he's not interested in the soft option, but is looking to strive as quickly as possible to bring success to the club. I can't believe anyone could seriously consider Millward. Apart from Saints (a good few years ago) his record since is abysmal. So once again, no thank you.

| Well I did mention last week that he is the oldest coach in SL but if we take on either of the Brians then we will have the pleasure. Not for me IM - dont forget too his big pal (Lance Todds mate) has just left the club.

| The RL mole just tweeted
"@RLW_Mole: Moley's UK spies tell me poor Ian Millward has been sacked at Cas, while Brian Noble will get the Salford job. Brian Smith out of running"
Interesting. ...

| I'd guess that he's been meeting with Smith in Dubai and when he's back there will be a big announcement.
Think they might wait unt after the Hull game as its a hiding to nothing, use the CC away game as a training exercise and then its the Docs but brand/club relaunch agaibst Cas and hopefully a big crowd and winnable game.

| I've gone beyond trying to guess now. All this hanging around is breeding a bit of negativity around the Club from fans and impatient journos who want something new to write about. With an absence of news they seem to be sliding down the negative vibe route as they become frustrated too. See Barkers double effort today as an example. One article suggesting Fages wont get a shout with a new coach along with Longy going (Although this is a fair article imo and highlights something that I thought about myself) The other article rolls out mcRae with his usual brand of subdued praise followed by reeling it in in favour of a nice dose of negativity.
Just wish that the Club would get on with it.
