| Quote king of the shed="king of the shed"I for one never understood why they never played at the Willows, could you imagine a one of united’s big name making an injury comeback in a reserve game (not that that happens much these days, but back in the day) I would imagine a few thousand would have turned up at the Willows and maybe even at Barton.'"
Well being local, I would have gone to a fair few matches.

Quote Michigan red="Michigan red"Well for me I enjoy watching RU and would look to getting a Sale season ticket and watch all year round rugby.'"
Fair enough, I guess. I just don't understand how an RL fan can find any entertainment in RU. And that's purely on the 'entertainment' value, before you get into the history between the two sports.
Quote Michigan red="Michigan red"I have no interest in football and find the commerciality and especially the wages paid to its players disgusting.'"
A lot of football fans would agree with you on that one and many do a lot of good work in trying to bring the game back to the average working joe. But that doesn't take away from the benefit of opening the stadium and, potentially, Salford City Reds up to a global audience.
Quote Michigan red="Michigan red"There is also the attitude and actions of the fans that puts me off football.'"

And that excludes some of the filth in the rules about certain sex-acts. Yeah, rugby union types are so much more refined and well behaved than football fans, aren't they?

| I work within spitting distance of Stockport's ground. Stockport County fans working with me state Sale will be in Stockport next season: it was announced by their chairman last night. I have also had this from two Sale fans through links to their board.
Rumour is that Mr Kennedy tried too hard to negotiate a lower tenancy payment but failed as Peel/Salford Council were in a position of strength with Utd and Salford so refused to go to his level. Rumour.

This is where rlfans.com needs a "like" button.
It was also mentioned on Radio Mcr that Cheshire Sport are giving Stockport County a rent free period, so probably linked with this.

Please God hope this is true.

I didn't mean those types of antics I meant more fighting and generaly thuggery, there is a poster on here who tries to come across as high and mighty but is a known trouble causer at FC United games, been told from 2 independant people that he does his best to cause trouble and then lets others get the grief. Don't see him doing it at rugby though for some odd reason.
An instance is that you see quite often loads of United fans in Wetherspoons in Eccles chanting all kinds of rank songs but the minute anyone mentions anything back they see it as an oppertunity to become agressive towards the people saying it.
Just find the atmosphere they generate very incendiary and volatile.

I would prefer Sale but then if that is true then the Council/Peel are to be congratulated as Sale (or anyone else useing the facilities) should play the same rates as us.
Can't see 3 teams playing there to be honest as there would never be a fallow part of the year to let the pitch recover and maybe reseeding taking place.

If its true United reserves are going to play there i think its a massive coup not only for the stadium owners but for Salford to.I may be wrong but i don`t think United would have any designs on actually having any financial thoughts on the stadium,or for that matter undermining Salford. On the other hand i don`t think that your favourite kick and clap team would have the same scruples,i would`nt trust them as far as i could throw them, that sport as tried for over a hundred years to strangle rugby league, and they will carry on trying to do so.

I've seen that kind of behaviour plenty of time with some Salford fans - i's not a football thing, it's a society thing.
Anyhow, back to the groundshare - any idea how many games United reserves typically play? They will get smaller crowds than Sale, but I wonder if the greater volume appeals to the Stadium Co.

GT a trouble causer
He'd be England's top hooligan if standing around and looking moody was the main criteria.
As an aside I'm enjoying the anti-Union/Sale consensus on this thread.

Good point, they have i suppose have to think of the franchises they have in the stadium and the corporate side to,but the name of United and the stature that brings worldwide could i hope just swing it Uniteds way ,old trafford is only round the corner and we all know how many people just go to the stadium for a look ,with the right publicity from our stadium owners them same people might want to have a look where their reserves play to.I know i`m clutching at straws, its just a thought to keep them bleeders out.
