I don't like the Wildcats. It could be adopted as an official nickname, to keep the mascot and other marketing stuff, but I really don't like the way the club is trying to drop "Trinity". The club website calls the club Wakefield Wildcats, and I think it is only fan pressure that keeps the Trinity in.



For those non-Wakey fans, the club was formed by the Trinity church, who formed lots of sports teams as a way of keeping young men fit and active, with the rugby team turning out to be enduring team. The stained glass windows in the Trinity church were red and blue, hence the club colours. So if you lose Trinity, you are giving away more than just a name. It's an integral part of the club's history.



For me, it's just Wakefield Trinity.

Fits in quite well though with the original ' Chemics ' through to its logical conclusion ' Mutants ' , don't you think





I never use the Vikings ' moniker ' , although it is far from the worst , I'd happily see the end of the Centurions name , although a survey of sorts a couple of years ago showed that that was the name the younger generation now use , doubtful we'll ever hear a chant with it in it though

I think you should use the name [iThe Leigh Lobby Gobblers[/i, with a plate of lobby on your crest. I’m not sure what you’d do for a mascot, but you could use a scruffy tramp, with a big fat belly, and call him [iThe Lazy Lob[/i?



The only problem with that, is he would be indistinguishable from the rest of the LSV home crowd.

Seriously when I use the reference ' Mutant ' , it is in homage to your past , I even got the name of my business after driving through Widnes and seeing the Catalyst museum sign
