| Quote Tuco="Tuco"How about delayed coverage of a Sunday game around 9pm with Bill Arthur,O'Connor and McDermott plus a round up of the rest of the weekend action instead of the dross we get on SSN at 9:30?Sure we had something similar to this in the 90s.'"
Yes Sky used to do this when it was still the Stones Bitter Championship. The programme was called 'The Big League'.

| Quote Derwent="Derwent"No it isn't, 5 games is the norm. You aren't factoring in the weekends when there are no PL fixtures for things like the FA Cup and Internationals. When it is a 'normal' PL weekend there are always 5 games shown.'" That's simply not true.
Weekend of 14th Jan - 3 live games.
Weekend of 21st Jan - 4 live games
Weekend of 4th Feb - 4 live games
Weekend of 11th Feb - 3/4 live games
So from the first 4 weekends I looked at, none of them had 5 games.
Now the difference with PL games is that they play rounds in the midweek, and at times there will be a couple of games there too.
The point I was making, and was confirmed by another poster was that the contract for Sky and ESPN is 138 games, meaning an average of 3.6 games.
It is extremely rare to get 5 live games on a Sat/Sun/Mon. There aren't always Saturday early games, or Saturday late games, or Monday evening games. There are often 1 or 2 of these each weekend.

| I am not sure there is enough quality in the league to have more than 2 games a week. Maybe when the standards improve and the league is more competitive we could shake sky down for some more cash.
I like the idea of Monday night rugby. Monday is a rotten day and could do with a bit for rugby to improve it. Perhaps they could show more RL during the football off season and go back to 2 matches when the footy is back on.
It seems a waste that we have 4/5 weekends in the summer when we do not have any games on Sky due to the cup. Getting Sky secondary rights to the cup would be a good move.

as would getting the BBC to spend some money on their highlights show!
Sunday evening, BBC, Nationwide at 8pm the SL Show should be on...highlights of all 7 games from the weekend......not tucked away on BBC Yorkshire on a sunday afternoon slot and at 3am Everywhere else with highlights of only 3 games sometimes.
Like the idea of Monday Night Football, but the clubs in the NRL don't......they get hammered at the gate. Can't see many St Helens fans making the trip to Headingly on a Monday evening with a view to getting home well after midnight....and how many fans from anywhere (including London) would bother with the Stoop on a Monday?

| A bit of thought put into the fixture list and you could have the Derbies as MNF when the football's not on in the summer.

| Hate Monday night Footy myself, well that is until I'm watching the mighty eels play at the time, still sucks waiting all weekend though.
It has its cons and disadvantages though, high TV ratings but some crowds are house. If sky could pick n choose what big games to show, it could be a real winner. Some of the highest RL ratings in Aus for the last few years on PTV have been Monday night games.

| Sky would have to be wise though, some games like Parra v Manly, Canterbury, Tigers or saints would be a sellout on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, but a Monday night game might only get 12k in for those games, so the same thing would apply to the UK games.
You hardly ever see a team like Nth QLD and the Warriors (never) host a Monday night game, but it wouldn't be hard to work around.
The Roosters are a bit like London Bronquins, no crowds blah blah blah, yet I remember in the mid 90's, the Roosters got a crowd on a Monday night not much under 40k out of the blue, so it could have a good effect on certain teams.
