| Quote duke street 10="duke street 10"Leeds do seem to be attracting the "naughty" fan elements from Football. Not just from the obvious club but from non league sides on the outskirts of the City too.'"
it's not a new thing with Leeds, one of the main reasons away fans were moved into the south stand at ours was because fans of 2 certain clubs couldn't behave themselves in the Kilner bank stand a few years running, one of those was Leeds!
but it's boring just blaming 'football hooligans' everytime there is trouble at a RL game.every club in every sport has an element of idiots following them, it's just unfortunate that Leeds seem to have more than most in both football and RL.
however i also saw the 'Wigan ultra's' fighting with other Wigan fans and stewards and have seen countess incidents involving other clubs , so harsh to single out Leeds.

| Let's not fall in to the easy "football fans" excuse. They're at a rugby game so they are, by extension, rugby fans.
However, it's not just a rugby / football problem, nor a just a Leeds problem (there must have been 25,00-30,000 Leeds fans who went to the game without incident). It's a societal problem that sees idiots attempt to get as wasted as they possibly can, and then act surprised when said idiots cause problems. I saw two incidents where stewards were called to remove idiots from the North Lower.
Every club has to deal with this section of society. By sheer weight of numbers, Leeds will have to deal with it more than other clubs.
What worries me is that unless something changes, the popular 6:00 KO for the Grand Final could easily be under threat if MUFC and GMP decide that they've had enough of dealing with violent drunks all day long. We have already seen an alcohol ban in the stadium bowl and we have alcohol cordons around the ground. What other options are there?

I'm going to take you up on this
This season for instance I've only missed 4 games all season and I've seen trouble twice, Grand Final and at Magic Weekend and it was only small amounts
At Wakefield this season a small amount of home fans spent majority goading me and my friends for a reaction, instead we just laughed and made friends with some other Trinity fans
Now to say Rhinos fans attract idiots maybe however there was no trouble at Wembley this season that I saw and that was a big game fixture

| There were plenty of idiots about from both Leeds and Wigan yesterday. Lots of people who cannot handle their beer.
At about 1pm I was walking in the keys area with the wife and came across a very angry little Wigan fan who was adamant on squaring up to me wanting to fight and threatening to throw me into the water. Wasn't particularly bothered as there would have been only one winner he was that legless. But thankfully some other Wigan fans dragged him away calling him an embarrassment to their club. Bad apples from all clubs especially when they are allowed to drink all day and cannot handle it.

| In my time watching rugby league, I can say I have only been witness to 3 incidents of crowd trouble and then albeit minor. In one of the many Leeds v Saints grand finals the year escapes me, Leeds v Castleford in last years final at Wembley and Wigan v Hull at DW earlier this year. There may be more but I cannot recall them.
I think every club has their idiots, but these numbers swell especially at a final when the alcohol has been flowing. I hope the people in this incident are named and shamed.

maybe it didn't come across in my post, i am in no way suggesting that only Leeds fans cause trouble, what i was saying is that every clubs has an idiot element to their support, Leeds, being the biggest and best supported club, are going to attract more idiots due to sheer numbers.
like i said, i have seen trouble from just about all other clubs, not just Leeds.
that scenario sounds familiar at wakey, we've had that for years!

| maybe stop people who are, obviously very drunk to not enter the ground or the perimeter of the ground?
i know they do this in football in Berlin, they have police/security at every S-Bahn/ U-Bahn stop looking out for people who are extremely drunk and take them away, presumbly away from being able to enter the stadium?
whether that would work here i don't know?

| Quote 21-12="21-12"Not really fair to just blame Leeds fans here,I heard off my mate inside the ground what happened at Sam platts as he was there. 2 big groups of youngish lads from both sides were all singing in that big tent when a Leeds fan in fancy dress came right up towards the WIgan lot and started to shout abuse, he was knocked to the ground by a wigan fan and then both sets of fans charged at eachother, the fighting lasted at least a good minute and there was people escaping from the tent terrified. My mate follows United home and away and said this was possibly the worse trouble he had seen for years at both sports. Also heard the same 2 groups were fighting outside the oyster bar Earlier in the day.'"
Absolutely, both sets of fans are to blame, i made the Leeds comment about the guy throwing bottles...in a Leeds shirt.
I have read comments from that video that suggests it was actually Wigan fans that started it...whenever there's trouble there is usually 2 sides to blame not just 1.
The fact that some of these people are quite clearly wearing Rugby League shirts and still people are blaming it on football fans is ridiculous, as much as we pride ourselves on the behaviour of the majority of our fans some people who watch this sport are idiots who like a good scrap !!

You obviously never went to Warrington in the 80s then to be honest there is very little trouble at RL games whereas when I started going in the 80s there was trouble at grounds every week the Hull Derby was a bad one a trip to Warrington was also bad and there was always trouble at featherstone

| I was at Sam Platt's yesterday and you could tell it was going to happen about an hour before it actually did. It all started off great, two sets of fans, having a laugh and a beer and a bit of a sing song. Then two sets of fans from both sides, (none who were in club colours, if that even matters, but I think it does), started closing the gap in the tents at Sam Platt's, and the atmosphere completely changed. I went with a group of 20 and a lot of those were women who wanted us to leave way before it all kicked off because you could tell something wasn't right. We mentioned something to the bouncers about just removing them but made a point of it causing more trouble than it was probably worth, and decided to put a row of 6/7 bouncers in a line separating the two.
Then all it took was one push and all hell broke loose, and one of the girls I was with almost got caught in the middle of it, but luckily was dragged away before a flying bottle nearly caught her in the face, but a bouncer wasn't so lucky who got hit in the eye and was flat out on the ground as we left. Wigan 'fans' if you can call them that started it, and Leeds gave as good as they got. Disgraceful stuff really, and I wouldn't say it ruined the day, but certainly put a dampener on it.
