Never thought would say this but I think the Grand Final has become bigger then the Challenge Cup Final.

I would even guess that if the BBC ever did get rights to the Grand Final, viewing figures would be higher then the CC Final.



So for me, I'd rather us win the GF then CC, but the CC one year would be very nice.

Grand final all the way. It means you have had a good season all the way and a massive high at the end.

Cup for me, has more history and tradition than the grand final and most of them are far more exciting. Plus you can actually lose matches in the playoffs and still make the grand final, wheras in the cup you dont get any second chance.



I agree that the league leaders shield should be made into more of an achievment, it signifies after all the best team over the course of the (regular) season. If i wanted to find out the best team in another sport i would see who came top of the league.

definately the cup, it has so much history in our game what more does a rugby fan want than to see there team at wembley? its definately still the show piece event at our national stadium

The Challenge Cup has no 3rd party interests.



If SKY pulled out of superleague would we still have a grand final and who would broadcast it.

To me the playoffs + Grand Final is a re-badged, and highly successfully re-marketed premiership competition. With a far uglier trophy. (Seriously, is it just me that thinks the SL trophy itself is a colossal, unimaginative, tacky eye-sore?)



That being said, I'd be beside myself if Warrington ever won it.



The Luddite in me agrees with the view-point that first past the post is the only fair way to determine who the league champions are. However, it's simply not an arguable point, the word "minor" in the title given to the first past the post team is indicative of how little it really means to the competition organisers and how little they want us the fans to think of it as well.



Those who point to premiership competitions being used in RL to decide the overall champs up until the mid 70s, rather miss the point that this was a situation born from travel difficulties (at the time of course) across the pennines and so was very similar in effect to how the yanks pull together the winners from various regionally separated divisions to contest the super bowl. We have no such travel difficulties these days.

Grand Final everytime. To be crowned Champions is the greatest accolade, which you don't get with the cup.

Finish 2nd or lower and win a knock out after 27 games !

Wouldn't call finishing top 4 in your third SL season failure personally.

I could turn this around and say - Warrington have just won a five game knock out series to win the cup, but could finish 9th in the league and miss out on the Play Offs completely. Great reward for failure!



I don't agree with the top 8 play offs, but it is favoured towards the teams at the top which is the reward. The top two should compete in the Grand Final.

Thats a failure coming top is all that counts!

I have loved the whole play-off structure up to now, lets see what effect eight teams and choosing opponents has. The Grand Finals I have attended are easily my favourite sporting moments, there is always a feeling that history is being made before your eyes. The tension is great, and the atmosphere of playing under floodlights heightens the occasion.



On the other hand, the Cup Final is more of a light hearted celebration of the great game. The mixing of supporters and fancy dress is more obvious at the Cup final.



I was still buzzing Sunday and Monday after my Wembley visit, something I've never done after Old Trafford. Maybe it's because I have a four hour drive home after OT.
