| Quote Bull Mania="Bull Mania"Just slightly off-topic, but i caught the highlights of NZ V.S Aus cricket match in the ICC trophy and noticed there were a lot of empty seats. Wonder if anyone is concerned about the health of cricket

If the RL world cup has even one game that has some empty seats, i'm sure these message boards will be full of some "fans" gleefully telling everyone international RL is pointless, no one is interested and it is dead.'"
1. Cricket is as ed up as League is....many people are concerned about its current state.
2. A pair of teams playing 12,000 miles away from home on a Wednesday is hardly the same as fears of 50,000 empty seats at an England HOME game on a Saturday.
Nobody "wants" the RLWC to fail......but anyone who dares question the activities and marketing thus far is seemingly a gleeful naysayer in waiting
500,000+ tickets on sale......if they'd sold half of them we'd have been told......if they'd sold 200,000 of them we'd have been told........all we have been told is that they shifted a few corporate and group sales, half sold out the final and 1,500 family tickets on a cash back scheme were sold to London and St Albans yoof RL.........
I am aware that some posters on here say they are "waiting to see what their mates are doing"......I'd suggest that in reality, they are waiting for the "offers" to start...like the recent Ireland + Exiles offer.

Last time I checked, England weren't playing at home in the opening game

Not sure where you got the impression that I was on benefits, but I have never signed on in my life.
As for me being "in charge" and everything being fine.....I have never said I have the answers, I'm simply pointing out that at the moment, it is looking worrying with regard to ticket sales, but if you need to sling personal insults, especially ones well wide of the mark and with no foundation, then knock yourself out

| Heard that the Ireland game in Limerick had sold around 3500 and the Fiji v Ireland game at Rochdale was around the same mark.
Think that's pretty positive at this stage.

That does sound quite good actually. I fear for Scotland v USA on a Thursday night in Salford tbh.

Not sure how accurate the Limerick figure is, had a look and there is only one stand open and not many seats sold.
The Rochdale game looks to be selling well. Think some fans need to be realistic about ticket sales. The tournaments still 4 month away and we've probably sold more already than the 2000 World Cup. Wonder how many tickets the 08 World Cup had sold 4 months before the tournament?

that's pretty good, the RFL commented that they picked Rochdale for the Fiji game due to the town having a big Fijian population...and those sales seem to back that up.
as others have said, the Scotland-USA game at Salford mid-week is a concern, can't understand why they didn't attempt to play at least one Scotland game in Scotland.

In 2000 they played Scotland, Wales and Ireland games in their own countries and Scotland in particular was just embarrassing (and oh boy, did the BBC use it as a stick to beat the tournament with).

It's not a confirmed figure, it's what I was told by someone in the know whilst doing my work for RLP.
I think a lot of fans, and I mean a really high percentage of us havn't bought tickets yet. I've got tickets to 3 games but will be attending at least 8.
