Quote The Nihilist="The Nihilist"Hmmm. I'm not convinced. Bailey is very average, but he's a very tough player and anyone who can work as hard as he can for 80 minutes in SOO must have a little bit about them. I'm not convinced Wilkin could.'"
Wilkin gets through lots more work than Bailey on a weekly basis.
In one more appearance in SL this year Wilkin has made 41 more carries, 288 more metres, 234 more tackles, 33 more tackle busts, 36 more marker tackles and 11 more clean breaks. He is also
constantly running dummy lines for the rest of the team.
He does give away more penalties and make more errors, but considering how much more work he does than Bailey both in defence and attack it's hardly surprising.
He's more a Mike Bennett - looking at Benno's '07 stats when he was fit compared to Bailey in 09 they're pretty similar but Benno made more tackles, missed less tackles, made more breaks, bust more tackles and scored more tries. Bennett isn't in Wilkin's league and neither is Bailey.
Benno was a decent British squad player on a normal wage, Bailey is an overseas spot on a wedge. It doesn't make sense and Wigan should shift him out.
