Quote joetwizzy="joetwizzy"Tim Lovejoy said some very good things about rugby league on something for the weekends. Here is the link for those that didn't see it.

Does anyone have any other examples of rugby league being mentioned on TV. I think things like this are very good for the game.'"
Fair play to Tim Lovejoy, I remember he once said after a fan had sent in a picture of a recipe they'd made in a Hull FC top (ironically given the location of the OP) 'that I believe is a Hull Rugby League top, nice, and for those of you that don't know, Rugby League is the skillful version of Rugby'
Good lad.

| What's even more interesting is that I've not heard anyone, celebs or otherwise, bigging up England RU or the RU World Cup in general. In fact the only stuff I've heard has been criticism and boredom.
SL has attracted some excellent and enthusiastic comments from people in the public arena in the last few weeks. What a shame we don't have people at the top who know how to capitalise on them.

| Rio Ferdinand & Wayne Rooney are big fans, I remember when the 2007 Rugby World Cup was on and Rooney was asked if he had been watching it and he said something on the line of "No I've been watching the League and it's brilliant"

| I know Ryan Giggs went to the final last year.
Also a few cricketers who have bigged up the sport - Ryan Sidebottom bigged up the 9's Tournament

| Quite a lot of cricketers and footballers have good things to say about RL. Sides is a Bulls fan (I think), Matthew Hoggard likes it, Fred Flintoft's partial to a game, Nicky Barmby is a Hull FC season ticket holder.
What amazed me was finding out that, despite being built like a rugby player, Tim Bresnan had trials for Leeds United!

| roy keane of course is a regular at the international games, and nicky wire from the manics likes his league too - warrington fan i think
of course no better time for some tongue in cheek promotion of the upcoming 4 nations tournament - along the lines of, 'bored by the union world cup? - try another variety' backed with some quotes from these celebs, but you just know the rfl wont do anything like this, sadly

Spot on Cronus.
If we had the marketing of union and we obviously have the sport we could overtake the buggers.

Nick Barmby, answering a question on Soccer AM something along the lines of "Who is the best footballer ever to play for Hull?" and the former England international gives Jason Smith as his answer, cue dead silence and Barmbys explanation, good lad.
