Just a variation on the threads about overseas players/home grown players in first teams and whatever. Can you name a team of players who came through the academy of your club, and are either still there, or still playing rugby league elsewhere?



This has been done in the past but not for a year or so and it's interesting to see the names who have come through certain clubs because some of the teams who get criticised for bringing in loads of overseas players, actually have strong home grown credentials when you look at it like this (eg Wakefield with Ellis, Westwood, Mason). If you did it in football West Ham who are full of overseas journeymen, would have a cracking team with Lampard, Cole, Johnson, Ferdinand, Defoe and so on.



Some players could count for more than one team because they transfer from one clubs Academy to another, Chris Bridge (Hudds-Bradford), Ryan Atkins (Bradford-Wakefield). I would say that the second club can only count them if they hadn't made a first team appearance at the time they signed them.



This sort of exercise shows the health of a clubs youth development system and it shows how strong a team would be if there were no transfers or imports and clubs simply had to produce their own talent to succeed.

IIRC he came to the club at 20/21 from Castleford Panthers asking for a trial. Not sure if he had been in anyone elses Academy prior to that?

there should be a section for "honorary mentions" for good players who have gone onto make it elsewhere that wouldn't get in the first choice team, eg Wigan would have blokes like Luke Robinson, Martin Aspinwall
