| How long until the powers that be finally outlaw this immoral technique? Do we really have to wait until a young man has his career ended or is left unable to walk again before it happens?
Why wait for the outcome to be severe enough before taking action?
It's so annoying that nothing has been done about it. It's possibly the easiest rule change to make as well. Just make it that if a player is held on his upper body, no other player can apply any force to the legs, only grabs are allowed. You slam into the knee after they are held and you get a red card and you sit out a month. Simple.

| Agreed. In the NRL, third man in cannot hit below the knee.
We could adopt same from next week. Just announce that third man in contacting below the knee will be deemed dangerous play and penalised.
Mind you, would give Wane even more to worry about in training this week..

| Be interesting to see if Powell get a call to HQ, Chase getting his ban should have sent the message, now we need another big ban to show the RFL are serious.

| Second time Powell has done that this year. Long ban should be coming his way.

| How Silverwood said it wasn't a cannonball shocked me.

| In this thread: nobody that knows what a cannonball tackle is.

| From what I understand if a player is held upright by two defenders, any additional defenders contact must be above the knees.
It doesn't matter if that contact is from the front, side, or back.

So which one was a cannonball then as the first contact of this one (which everyone keeps bringing up) is clearly on the hip/thigh.

| I cannot believe the usual Wigan suspects are even trying to defend this. The very idea of a player is launching into that kind of tackle, regardless of specific point of impact, appals fans of seemingly all other clubs; but the likes of Wigg'n just don't seem to get it.

Explain why it is appalling to tackle a player at the hip please?
Soon you'll be suggesting players shouldn't tackle across the chest because it's too close to the head.
Here's a tip; watch Rangi Chase's cannonball that he got banned 7 games for, and then watch Powell's completely legitimate tackle. One is highly illegal, the other isn't. There is a line, as with every tackle. Take your faux outrage somewhere else.
