Whenever he had those occasional displays of petulance with the opposition he always struck me as someone who had always previously been able to do what they want but suddenly found himself up against people who not only wanted to stop him but were able to.

Karl's a nice lad who was never really that bothered if he made it or not. He's just happy going with the flow. He had the physical tools but not the desire to make them count. That makes a few people fed up because you wonder what he could've done. I don't think he's all that bothered.

He is a cracking lad. I've known him a long time. I'd love for him to come back even for a couple of seasons and really dig in. He could have been the best back of his generation because of his size and pace and his ability to anticipate space or smash his way through. He is the epitomy of chilled out and I think that's let him down. He isn't afraid of being roughed up, he has had it all his life, through juniors, academy and open age all because of his name.
