Reserve grade was scrapped 3 years ago its been U20's since. Next season is 16's and 19's more short sightedness by the RFL.

Should be called PRFL from now on the P standing for Procrastination!

Will this really change anything for us? Presumably our U18's will just become the U19's instead.

Its stripping out a level of competition. At moment injured players coming back and fringe players get game time for u20s with the displaced u20s dropping down to u18s. Seems that most players make step up to first team at around 20-21. Potentially theres going to be a lot of players at that age too old for u19s ( and more than the 3 overage players allowed) but not quite ready for first team and unable to get any playing time to aid their development.

Hence the talk about championship clubs becoming feeders with those players out on loan/dual reg to get game time. This is something champonship fans are quite rightly pretty universally opposed to.

Strange when Voltaire coined the phrase he was refering to "actions" to encourage the others, it would appear the RFL are reversing the concept to "inactions" to encourage the others.



Also puzzled by the changes to the youth program in posts above - I naively assumed that a strong sport would need a wide base of junior and club sides to support the elite group of players in the top leagues. Judging by some of the current annoucements we are going to end up with two under 14 sides to support Super League - wonder where this will lead?

Heaven forbid that any other club finds itself in our position but what does the RFL (in?)action say to any prospective saviour? Pour encourager personne, is more apt imo.
