| Quote St pete="St pete"Royce Simmons has had some stick so far this season and rightly so for some things. The team has looked unmotivated, short of ideas and being honest looked pretty poor.
But tonight he deserves a huge pat on the back, he's got a reaction out of the players, got them working for each other which I didn't think possible after last weeks showing.
Well done royce and the lads!'"
is it also a case of removing bad apples from the squad?
not disputing what you have said, just offering another POV.

| Quote FearTheVee="FearTheVee"How people are arriving at the conclusion that Leeds are going to wipe the floor with us is beyond me. All this talk of 30+ point margins is absolute nonsense - you can quote me on that on Sunday.'"
Hopefully that performance has quietened some of the more ridiculous knee jerkers amongst our support.
Also, Paul Wello take a bow. Some of the ill informed abuse he gets on here is a disgrace at times for a player who would die for this club.

| You will look back at the end of the season and say "Our season started at Headingley on Saturday 19th March 2011"
The players now know where they stand and Eastmond is now history as you dont need him - you have got someone who wants to play for you and wear the seven shirt with pride.
The way both the players and fans celebrated after the final whistle was as if you had won the Grand Final!

Agreed, I love Wello! I don't understand all the criticism he gets. Safe as houses.

| I also agree about wello, amazing how quickly fans change their minds on this forum.
I remember a time everyone was on the back of cunningham after his serious injury years ago, saying he was finished etc..
NEVER WRITE OFF THE SAINTS!

He offers little to nothing now with ball in hand, how many times last night did he beat the first man or make 10yds on a kick return? His positional sense no longer covers his lack of pace.
What no one has ever questioned is his commitment.

Would that try saving tackle on Ryan Hall not be included as an example of what he still has to offer? And then compare him under the high ball to how Amos Roberts was on Friday! And for someone that's meant to be so slow, he always seems to be keeping up with breaks to offer support to the player with ball in hand.

The problem so far this season has not been Royce Simmons. It's been Kyle Eastmond, and last night proved it.

Brent Webb is fast, but I wouldn't swap Wello for 2 Webbs.
Wellens offered enough to score a clinching try and save several others last night, added to being faultless under some good kicks. He was magnificent IMO.
Pace isn't everything. Amos Roberts has pace but did his best to give the game to Hudds on Fri, same with Webb. Wellens is a cracking full back and gets more stick than he deserves.

I wouldn't go that far as to blame eastmond for everthing this but he's obviously played a big part in are terrible start.
He can't be blamed for our very poor defence, lack off effort and so on.
Let's hope last night put some confidence back in to the squad we kick on now and go on a good unbeaten run.

What has any of that got to do with what I posted? I think he's starting to show weaknesses defensively, but he has been for a while, but his reading of the game has covered most of that. Defensively he's probably still the best in the league at full back, offensively, amonget the worst.
Quote Poyser11And for someone that's meant to be so slow, he always seems to be keeping up with breaks to offer support to the player with ball in hand.'"
With such a fantastic supporting game I expect he's near the top of the try charts then? Oh, no he isn't. The ball too often dies in his hands, which is the problem.
