Why is it rubbish, facts are there for all to see, he never really became the player he should have been, and despite his natural abilities pace and power became a just above average player.

He had plenty of heart and application. What he didn’t have was mongrel or consistency in defence. He tried to put the big hit in and often missed completely. We all know Reilly didn’t rate him but I think that has coloured a lot of judgement and made people think he was some sort of softy, he certainly wasn’t.

He also became a totally different player at the bulls - far bigger than at Leeds and much less dynamic. That would probably have happened wherever he went.



Haughton was a slightly better version of Andy Hay.

I don't know what happened with Andy hay. He is one of the best prospects I've seen at Cas. A natural loose forward who was quick enough for the three quarters, with a great attitude. He seemed to lose it, was shipped out to Sheffield, then to Leeds where he suddenly thought he was a hard man under Graham Murray. I never rated him after that.

Maybe it was that blow to the head Kelvin Skerritt, that dirty get, gave him.

He was never a hard man , the one thing he lacked was Heart

Apart from score some long range tries Haughton was pretty poor. Nowhere near the best second rows of his time.

That depends. If the category was 'Looking like Joe Longthorne' he was the best second rower ever.
