It's not much remembered as Leeds kept it to themselves so opposition players didn't target him but Sinfield played through the back end of the 2010 season with a fractured cheekbone and eye socket -

According to that article Brent Webb also picked up a "similar injury" in the final play off game vs Wigan (great detailed reporting as ever YEP). With all that and McGuire and Peacock already out it's not really a surprise 2010 was the year off from what would otherwise have been six in a row. |

The game in the late 80s early 90s was much dirtier than now but it had been cleaned up a fair bit from 88-89 when high tackles were properly outlawed with longer suspensions.
I remember we bought Medley and had designs of playing him in the centres. He played on the wing for us on the odd occasion.
Agree that he and Powell would've enjoyed playing now.

Going back to the wingers. I don't think I don't think we can underestimate the importance of the change to the corner post rule. As lethal as Makinson, Johnstone and Eden are, a large proportion of their trys wouldn't have counted a decade ago.

Medley was an excellent player but lacked "heart, application etc". Another one was Simon Haughton who could/should have been one of the best second row forwards in the world, he too lacked the aggression of say a Gareth Hock, now what a player that would have been.
