Most of you guys clearly rate Lunt very highly which makes the gamble on Moore even more surprising.
I think this also significantly strengthens our squad compared to having kept Pitts (I note that McDermott mentions that Lunt adds strength in a number of positions)

| Congrats on a great signing.
Giants must be nuts. Lunt is a great team man with a good attitude and great to watch.
Moore's traits have been well documented elsewhere.

| Whilst i welcome the lad i wouldn't be so quick to write off Mcshane who imo hasn't had a very fair crack thus far.
I think Hood will go on loan and possibly Mcshane will follow once RB is fuly fit but like i said i wouldn't want to write any of them off.

| There's clearly not much between Hood and McShane in the eyes of the coaching staff given the way they were rotated at the start of the season. Given how much more time McShane has had around the first team squad over the last few years than Hood, that would suggest they aren't convinced by him as a first choice hooker for a SL side.
When Leeds had success with Burrow off the bench at the end of last year, it often involved him coming on for one of the back rowers with Buderus shifting back into a loose forward type role. Lunt is the ideal player for that kind of role, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting at hooker with Burrow coming off the bench 20-25 minutes into a game and Lunt moving back to loose.

| Rare for Leeds to get a loan player but I like this signing. It gives us plenty of options and allows Mac even more scope to totally bamboozle us with his team selections.
Lunt is a more than decent player with a good attitude...nicely understated here:
"My preferred position is hooker but I am happy playing in the back row as well, whatever the coaching staff want of me. I have trained with the Rhinos yesterday and the players really made me feel welcome. I need to get my head down now and work hard to make the most of this opportunity,"

Agree with the above. Think Lunt is a good loan signing but don't think mcshane and particulary Hood should be written off. Hopefully some loan spells with some first team rugby will assist

| Leeds have a got a terrific player, an old-school hooker rather than the additional half-back type of dummy half. Close to the line, you'll not stop him.
Gilder has it spot on re the type of role he'll likely play at Leeds.

| Depending on whether bridges have been burnt between Hudds and Lunt, it may not be that much of a gamble. Was he OOC this year? If not, they still get their player back, and have the chance to bring in a player with good potential in Moore. Its almost a win win situation all round

Correct.
Huddersfield had to move him on to create cap space for Moore. If they decide to retain Moore beyond the end of this season I would expect Lunt to be told he can seek another club, much like Leeds did with Pitts.

Wrong.
Lunt wants to go to oz to be with his brothers + unhappy getting low minutes behind Robbo when he plays + unhappy being 3rd behind Tommy Lee who is a much better defender and has a passing game better suited to the way the Giants play.
If you watched the Giants vs Leeds U20s game you will know exactly what i mean about poor defence.
Clearly moving a high paid player on loan out of our 20s opens up a place and cap space. far more cap space than will be required to sign Moore. Today we have extended the contract of one of our best young forwards.
If you give Lunt 40 mins a game he will give it a go , which is good for Leeds (in attack) and it should help him get a basic contract in oz in 2013. He can then be with his brothers.
