I don't see any reason to doubt you on that.

He's got a very good reputation as a coach and would be able to get our attacking structures firing.



Another name I'd throw in would be Jason Taylor - took Souths to the semis without the star line-up they have now, assistant at the Roosters the last couple of years and always talks real sense when interviewed. He used to do a piece each week in the SMH where he'd explain the finer details of any given teams tactics - he's very astute, but I'd guess will probably want an NRL top job next rather than superleague.

But if it's the ''last chance'' isn't that evidence enough the team is now pretty much past it?

I just hope that Gawwy's next jaunt down under is more productive than his last few.



Surely all these "close working partnerships" we got in return for letting players move to NRL clubs on their terms for next to nowt could do us a favour back? Right?

Jason Taylor was rubbish as a head coach as well. Ended up getting chinned by one of his players IIRC. That's my point - a good assistant may always be just that - a good assistant. That doesn't necessarily mean they can be a good head coach at all.

I thought long and hard before making comment, I have never been a fan of McD, he took over a very good side with players who did not know when to give up. However he has allowed the side to grow old without making any replacement. Yes at the start of the season are defence was excellent but old limbs cannot keep it up all season. Taking out the Cup the end of the season has been a disgrace from Wakefield onwards we have played the worst football I have seen from a Leeds side, there is no structure in the attack, the forwards look worn out, not using replacements on the bench. On Saturday you just had to look at Kylie to realise he shot, the man has been a monster for the club but I cannot see him lasting another season. Apart from the ST Helens game Leeds always looked like losing, there was no spark. What the coach should have been doing is what great coach do, when you win something you don't sit on your laurals, compare Leeds 2004 side with 2007 look at the changes in the side, compare Leeds 2011 and 2014 bar a couple its the same side.



I said two years ago we need two new props and at least one new half back, McD signing have been strange to say the least, Moore, Grifhin and Brisco, and who could forget Joe Vickery. At times you feel its the players ego that run the team not the coach. I fear unless a new coach comes in it will be a long time before Leeds are back at Old Trafford, I do hope I am wrong but I don't think he has the strength to make the changes.

I don't think Jason Taylor was rubbish at all - sure he made mistakes, but he was and still is a young coach, they all make mistakes, even the experiences ones. And 'throat chop' from David Faalogo happened on an end of season mad Monday session, I don't think that 1 incident should define his coaching career.

Reminds me a bit of (and sorry for saying a dirty word...) Man Yoo in the football. Everyone was banging on about Fergie not bothering to replace his Dad's Army midfield golden generation of 'Giggsy' and the 'Ginger Ninja' and the Vidic and Ferdinand at the back when they were clearly on the wane, but still in the team. When Moyes then took charge he was left taking the blame for Fergie's lack of action before and was sacked.



This sort of feels similar - no obvious plan / heirs to take over from the likes of JP, JJB, Sinners, KL and Danny Mc. If they wait until those lot have gone, to some degree it will be too late as they generally are on the wane now.



Right now, next season looks like one of transition - I think if we don't have anyone lined up to replace these lot then to some degree it could be a 'lost' season. As it currently stands, the squad haven't performed as well this year as last and there is nothing to suggest the golden generation will perform better next year.



May as well get in / play potential replacements a bit more and come 4th/5th rather than stick with the old guns all the time and come 4th / 5th.

Next year won't be transition because we'll plod along with the same team playing the same way. They'll look at this season and all the narrow defeats and put finishing 6th and going out of the playoffs down to the CC, no biggie.



Man United is a good comparison, the difference is we can't just go out and sign up a bunch of players, we have to develop them. Which means we have to always plan 2/3 years ahead. I don't think gawwy has done that.



In 2/3 years peacock, leuluai, sinfield burrow mcguire JJb will all be gone. Some obviously more immediatly than others (peacock and leuluai) We have no one to replace any of them, apart from cuthbertson.
