| The BBC won't need to take Fury out of the running, he's doing a pretty good job of it himself.
Still think Murray's nailed on to win it, despite having - by his standards - a fairly ordinary year in the Grand Slams. What is it, one final and two semi-finals for a bloke ranked in the world top 3?

Murray has done the British thing hasn't he. Gone to help the plucky, but crap, Davis Cup team. He's not managed to beat any of the other big boys in the majors (none of whom bother with the Davis Cup), but we don't care. It does seem like he has put his body on the line to do it, played a lot of matches during periods he could/should have rested. To be honest it's a competition that generally barely registers beyond people involved in tennis.

Ironically, had it not been for James Ward pulling off a shock win against John Isner in the first round against the US, then Murray's later heroics would never have happened. GB lost the doubles in that tie, so would likely have gone out.

| At least he says what he thinks! perhaps somebody needs to have a word in his shell like, about him digging a real big hole for himself though. He may have gone under the radar a bit before but he now carries himself as heavyweight champ of the world and the wider public take more notice of his antics and his comments.

| Not so sure "at least he says what he thinks" is much of a defence against accusations of homophobia and misogyny. He just needs to start blaming stuff on "the blacks" and he's got himself a full set.
I get the feeling Fury thinks of himself as something like Mike Tyson. Except whereas Tyson was the baddest man on the planet, Fury's just the dumbest.

| i'm not defending him Andy.I like the fact he says what he thinks but obviously some of the stuff he says right now, he needs to keep to himself which i thought i conveyed in my post but obviously not.He urgently needs a PR manager before he alienates the whole of the UK, he is well on his way already.

Agree.
I had to laugh at the bit from, I think it was his uncle, on 5Live this morning.
Said all he had to apologise for was linking homosexuality with paedophilia, and that all this fuss shows some people don't have the right to free speech anymore.
I just don't quite know how to combat that kind of batsh|ttedry.

| Indeed - the fact he was able to say it kind of proves he has the right to free speech. Just as those of us who consider him an idiot have the right to call him one.
I bet there are senior people within the traveller community wishing he'd just keep his mouth shut.

| There's no stopping the mouth on this idiot - if anyone actually votes for this moron then they are just as (if not more) retarded than he is.

| I don't know what to make of Tyson Fury. I don't particularly follow boxing, but his achievement in beating klitschko sounds pretty impressive, though reaction seems to be mixed? I find some of the stuff he says and his attitudes toward women, the LBGT community and anyone who doesn't agree with him repellent and a throw back to less enlightened times. But in saying that, I think he echoes a strong sub cullture in our society. To me he's a grass roots, less politically savvy, less erudite version of Nigel Farage. If he does do well in the SPOTY poll I wouldn't be at all surprised.
