| A true modern great who has given everything to the cause. It takes a lot of backbone to make an announcement like this as I'm sure Hetherington and McDermott would have kept him if he asked. I'm honoured to have been able to watch him all these years and I hope that he is as successful in his next career move as he has been with us.

| I know we have signed Myler, and Lilley has signed a new deal but I wonder if we have got a marquee stand off coming in.

| I'm more gutted about this than I was when Sinfield and JP retired to be honest, the idea of seeing McGuire play for another SL club is very saddening. He's one of the modern greats of the game in this country, not just for Leeds, but across the game, but he's definitely earned the right to go out on his own terms.

| So many great moments. Personally will always remember the 2011 semi against Warrington for his part in Ryan Halls try. Supporting burrow just like he had done from being youth players but then bending his run and passing at the crucial time to put hall in.
Outstanding in 2015 his pass to Handley against saints after the Watkins break was superb.
Hopefully he stays involved at Leeds a great player who could be a great coach.

| his signature moment will always be the GF winner against the Bulls in 2004 that kick started our era of success.. the moments i will remember the most though and i think typifies the man is the 2008 GF against saints when we were pretty big underdogs, but in the teeming rain, backs against the wall in the second half who was on hand to get the 2 tries to clinch the game? you know who!
big game player Danny, and always seemed to come to the party in those games, we will miss him for sure when he goes. lets hope we can send him out a winner like Sinfield in October

| I'd prefer to see him quit so he doesn't play for anyone else, but huge respect to McGuire for leaving at a time which is probably best for the club, if not himself.
His tryscoring record as a halfback is simply phenomenal - 4th in our all-time list - and includes a number of vital and spectacular efforts. My favourite was probably against the Bulldogs in the 2005 WCC. Just breathtaking speed and self confidence.

This is a "re-print" of something I once posted but as Danny was pivotal I thinks it's worth another look.
In 2003 we had been going to more and more matches and this is the moment when I realised I was absolutely hooked and from 2004 have been a season ticket holder.

Watch from 7:49. When Dunneman put the kick through for Danny to chase the South Stand around me went absolutely nuts and the noise and excitement was just amazing. (Watching it back though I can't believe Kev missed the kick!)

| Tho Danny's highlights reel will be pretty long and probably topped off with the 2004 GF try, I'll always think of this game when I remember Mags...

Thanks for the memories Danny
So only JJB and Burrow left now of the golden generation (a don't really include Ablett and Hall, despite their achievements due to age) plus the south stand going, it's been building for a couple of years but this really is the end of an era (and hopefully the start of a new one)
