The lack of power afforded to teachers means that more and more youngsters are lacking respect for all things, including themselves IMO.

Maths has never been my strong point but I can put 2 and 2 together.

Sounds like people back in your day got all the bad stuff out of them before they became respectable adults. It just don’t seem to be like that anymore.

Agreed. However it isn't just pupils who show no respect to teachers. It is often their parents as well.

I have been saying for years that they should bring back the slipper/cane/ruler etc in schools . Getting the ruler was not really a deterrent . Getting the cane at school , or a belt round yer ar5e at home (often so hard that you pi55ed your pants) was definitely a deterrent . I left school at the same time as they stopped the teachers giving the kids a crack , and I would say that it was shortly after that (1982) that the kids started to turn out as scrotes .

Let the teachers take control of the schools again , and let the parents/coppers/anyone who feels the need , start punishing kids for scrote-like behaviour . They will soon come into line of what us oldies regard as acceptable behaviour .

At 12 yrs old most of my generation were out pinching apples or trespassing on the railway lines . Nowadays it seems the norm foor kids of that age to pinching cars and trespassing in peoples homes and making off with whatever they can carry . Some are even partents themselves at around that age . God help their kids .

My mate at work did a somersault into a wheelie bin full of rubbish on Saturday night.
