Quote Brodie123="Brodie123"Things have been going backwards for a while, and Furner was making his own job untenable irrespective to what others are saying. There is a lot more to this than meets the eye, everyone at Headingley are being tight lipped, but it did start some weeks ago at Stanningley, when GH KS met with Furner, it's funny how a month later he's gone.
What has happened, everyone on here has been saying how players have been told they can leave and there is no future for certain players and they have been told this. Like the players or not if your one of the players who have been given this information then why play for a coach who doesn't want you or a club who wants you to go quietly. It's never going to happen and this has been reflected in the team performance, either Furner or Sinfields man management has been a disgrace. Furner has lost his job because the team have not performed for him, and if he would not have been sacked then Sinfield would have had to go.
The Club have to start changing its culture, some of the decisions made have been shocking at best. Players given long contracts then shipped out to Fetherstone, out of the club, old players given new contracts, JJB and Ablett, James Lowe being made short term Head coach ( one big joke), on the other hand Furner has signed some quality but when watching the team there has always been something missing, Commitment springs to mind. Sinfield is now the man under pressure, Relegation is still on the table along with a debt of £23million. You don't fill a stadium playing rubbish and losing games as we have been doing and with over 3,000 corporate seats to fill you need to get it right on the pitch.
Leeds need a top quality coach not a cheap option, and the first job that the coach needs to do is to build a spirit of togetherness, you cannot force players under contract out of the door, but as contracts expire you can then move them on, you do not mickey off players in the middle of contracts. This time the club have to get this right'"
Agree with most of this, You raise a key point about man mangagement and team spirit in RL is critical. We don't know if Sinfield or Furner has been looking to move players on but Seeing Sinfield is director of rugby it seems hard to believe he was not involved, did he not give that steer to Peter Smith pre-season. We've seen Lilley, mullally, Walters, ormandroyd go.
Allegedly, Golding, cuthbo, Parcell and others being told they can go, you are never going to get much team spirit with that going on. Ultimate blame lies with GH for this.
IF there is no replacement lined up it seems crazy to me. Listened to Sinfield on Radio Leeds and he said agar in theory could be there for rest of season and stability was key. I nearly choked, how can he talk about stability after sacking a guy in 14 games?
I was away last week but got a text from my son on Friday afternoon before the Salford game, said he had seen Agar in his gym, he said he was going to have a word with him but backed off because "he looked angry".
Sinfield and GH are now under big pressure, having exited Lowes and now Furner I hope this is not GH just cutting costs and getting Agar to carry the can on the cheap.
It's feels as shambolic as the 80's
