I would go for something close to this, but without Watkins who is still carrying an injury. Rest Merrin, Hurrell, Walker and Watkins.

Why must we go through this charade - a meaningless fixture in a meaningless competition.

Will we play Golding for this if we didn’t when Walker was out injured?

What would be the point in playing Golding in a game against such opponents when he’s clearly on the outer and is playing at fev against better teams and not really making massive impact. Performing against Workington isn’t going to tell you much.



Also think that Watkins needs games like this to continue his progress to being something like his potential so don’t think ‘resting’ him would be a good call.

Probably also worth remembering that we're not that good yet. It might be better for this game to be used to score some tries and boost confidence rather than pick too many kids at once. I'd like to see McClelland get a game though.

Agree. It's just whether he's fit or not, I believe he had a hip injury, missed a game and then to me looked ropey against Cas last time out.

I hope nobody is rested next week for this game. They all deserve to be out there flogging themselves after that appalling performance.

There’s no point flogging players who are not good enough, they won’t get any better by being flogged. Play the kids, rest the ones who are crucial like Merrin and Hurrell, and do some straight talking with the rest telling them that their performances over the next 6 weeks will determine if they are still at the club next year.
