Yes that was my point.

We don`t have to wait another 5 years for someone to develop in to that role.

Whilst we have some decent back up waiting in the wings it will be a few years possibly before they can cover effectively.

I thought they might have gone with Lilley as the back up hooker next season, so I'm happy with this signing, although he isn't the greatest defender, he definitely seems too small to defend in the middle. Long term, I wonder what this means for Harvey Whitely?

Yeah, because Cameron Smith just bends down and passes the ball off the floor every tackle. You need to adapt to the modern game, it's not 5m anymore. Understand engaging markers, creating space around the play the ball, narrowing their defence etc
