| There was a particular game in 2005 (forget against who) when Sinny opted to kick for goal on a penalty only to kick it deliberately wide for Mark Calderwood to catch and touch down. The try wasn't given mind.

| Quote FlexWheeler="FlexWheeler"Rob burrow's debut/home debut. Think it was at home to Hull in 2001, I think we lost the game. Remember seeing this tiny player come onto the field, never seen a rugby player so small and at the time i thought he looked funny. But then he ran rings round the hull defence to score 2 tries and kicked some touchline conversions, i remember thinking geez this kid is hot sh*t. They'll never be a another player like him. 2011 GF was his crowning moment.'"
It was Rob Burrow's debut and Headingley debut (from off the bench), correct also in that it was a defeat to Hull (16-1icon_cool.gif and it also signalled Dean Lance's departure as head coach. Daryl Powell was installed in time for the following Thursday's trip to Warrington where he gave Burrow his first start and Robert obliged with their only try of the night in a 36 - 6 defeat. Dark days indeed but every cloud and all that.

Mentioned that in my first post, I think. 2005 at home to Hull. Went to the video ref who chalked it off because it wasn't deemed to be a 'mis-kick' and a deliberate attempt to kick to the corner which at the time (still could well be) not an attempt of hitting two points.
Had never seen owt like it before or since. Think it was Calderwood now you mention it. They were looking at the video ref for ages, trying to decipher where his eyes were looking and all that nonsense.

| Excerpt from the following night's YEP:
[iThe game ended on a bizarre note as video referee Bob Connolly disallowed a Rob Burrow touchdown from Kevin Sinfield’s penalty in the final seconds. Sinfield had kicked infield for his scrum-half to chase after indicating an attempt at goal and Smith said: “The officials got it 100 per cent correct. Kevin indicated he was going for goal and obviously he didn’t. He said he mis-kicked it – with tongue in cheek! The rule is when you indicate you’re going for goal you have to actually go for goal. What it showed me is his tactical awareness. Regardless of whether he actually knew that rule – I genuinely don’t think he did, but he has now learned it – the awareness to go for something like that shows a willingness to win, even with that scoreline, at that point in the game.[/i
To add to the unusual incidents on the night Keith Senior also scored a try from a short kick through by the multi talented Ryan Bailey.

Thanks for the information, TVOC - I appreciate that. Can't remember if that is the match Nick Scruton scored for them whilst on loan from us and wearing a blue and amber mouthguard - could have been the season before, mind.

Remember that day clearly now you mention it - storms all day, absolutely belted it down without relent all day from memory. Was stood on the Western Terrace and remember the flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder. If I remember correctly, Gareth Ellis played like a man possessed and it was actually quite a tight game.

| The amazing comeback against Saints at HQ, when we were 20-0 down with 60 minutes gone, only to win 30-20.
Schoey's last minute try at Castleford in the Premiership (early 90's). Earlier in the game, he'd been sin binned for arguing when the ref chalked off an interception try for a imaginary knock on. The ref later apologised for the call.
The 2011 play off semi final at Warrington. Rivals the Saints 2003 CC semi as the best game I've ever seen. One of the greatest atmosphere's ever.

| Personal favourites that I witnessed in person would be:
• the last minute win against Sheffield at Don Valley. Seem to recall it extended our unbeaten start to the season. Penalty given on our 40 meter but managed to edge it forward to the halfway line. Then Harris slotting it over.
• being fortunate to mascot the team away at Wakey in around 1990
• The last or one of the last games Mozzer played for Leeds, head butting a Halifax player away at Halifax. Lost that night and I don't recall him being played again before heading off to Aus
• Getting a thumbs up and being told "well played" by James Graham after heckling him. I think it actually tickled him.
• Hearing we'd signed Harris on the way to Ligher Valley
• the game away at Wire, which I think we won with an entirely British team.
• feeling queasy watching Chev snap his leg
