Difficult to defend yourself when you're on your knees trying to get up and play the ball after a tackle. Remind me who got the red card and how the game went? Job done.
Same when the biggest cheap shot merchant of the entire SL era, Mr Sculthorpe, decided to blindside him while he wasn't looking.
I don't care what anyone says, he walks out to play in the front row in RL knowing every other f****r in the opposition pack wants to T@t him at the slightest provocation.

As you say dropped ball, missed tackles, lying on a smaller player after the end has finished

When he gets a reputation for hurting opponents in the tackle and they avoid running at him then his reputation will be justified - but we all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon

| I actually think, contrary to what a lot of other fans might tell you, being the man in the pack who walks out with a deliberately painted target on your chest takes some cahonies. He irritates, niggles, enrages and draws a lot of fire. He takes some hammer for his troubles as well.

Problem is opponents are laughing at him these days, Wembley was just the latest example - a complete empty jacket. Perhaps if he concentrated on maximising his talents to the team's advantage he may gain some respect e.g. Peacock We need props who can make hard yards and hurt in the tackle? Bailey is neither of these - when the going gets really tough he is nowhere to be seen.

I saw Lima laughing when he dropped the ball. That's about it. When else were they laughing? It isn't his job to gain respect, or to be liked.

Tough to really hurt someone when you are third in the tackle and others have taken the physical punishment of the collision - so no I am not joking.

Who said anything about him being liked? respect is essential in any team sport both from your team mates and your opponents.
You think his team mates cannot see what we see - his performances improve when a contract renewal is on the horizon. Not sure he is the kind of guy you want in the trenches?
You think Peacock is respected by both? RL is a very hard sport as it is - making sly digs as the last man in the tackle when the opponent is pretty much defensless is pretty pathetic really.

I've never seen any evidence that his team mates don't respect him, have you? He does a dirty job for the team, and I'm sure his team mates appreciate it. Unless you have any evidence to back up your claims to the contrary?
As for the contract renewal, I think we've already established that his recent good form came long after his contract was renewed, but that it hadn't been announced.
Never let the facts ruin a good story though, eh?
He's hardly the first prop to have a pop at a half-back or go for the odd "cheap shot" either is he? Used to be part of the job description. Lee Radford, in fact, did it to Ryan Bailey last year, without attracting the same mouth-frothing. Jeff Lima is third man into nearly every tackle, and if he isn't you can bet someone else will come in hard to finish the job off once the player is stopped. It's one of those details Wigan take great care over. Again, rather less mouth-frothing about it.

Great game that one, hope Saints Leeds games regain that edge soon. Cracking few years of competition.
