Do crowds for MNF in the Premier League suffer from any notable drop in gates?



Any any club that is basing their income on "away fans" has a pretty flawed business model anyway, so I don't have much sympathy for that argument.

Is that off-set by the advantage of the longer recovery period preceding the Monday game?

Roll back to the mid 90's, week in week out without fail the solid chants of 'you can stick summer rugby up your a5se'

Monday night seems a curve ball, but it's just another night of the week. I'm open minded to seeing how this pans out.

I can see it working. Other sports play mid week fixtures, and monday night football seems to work great. I can't see the difference in getting to games on a monday after work as apposed to on a friday after work. Apart from not being able to have ten pints after the game.



It does suit me to have games on a monday, I must confess. I am far more likely to get to a monday game, rather than a friday or sunday game, due to my work schedule.

It also works over in aus, where Monday nights are a spectacle of the week. I mean I know they have a wider tv audience, and rugby league is a lot bigger over there. But this really could boost rugby league in England

Attendances do drop for the Monday night NRL games but again, it's only just been brought back in the last few years over there and I like the idea. I bet the viewing figures will be higher than Friday nights, because what else do people do Mondays?

1) IMO Monday is not a very family-friendly night



2) Whilst not against MNF in itself, it seems a shame that every year the fixtures are issued, the come with a free bottle of tipp-ex to cover all the changes. Why these sort of things couldn't be sorted BEFORE the official fixture lists are published are anyone's guess



3) Whilst at the moment, it is a local fixture with little travel involved for either side, how long will this last ? Are we going to be looking at a Widnes or London away trip on a Monday night going forward, because I trust the edicts of SL and the RFL about as far as I could throw them.
