| Quote christopher="christopher"Not jumping down your throat but...
Before his injury he was first class, his stats were very very good and he was breaking tackles making yardage for fun, I agree he wasn't/isn't nowhere near the finished article but I don't think he was over rated at all.
It is going to take him a few games to get back to anywhere near his previous form, he had a very serious injury that could have ended his career, this is going to take a while to get over physically but more importantly mentally.
I do however agree that he won't or shouldn't be playing for England at the end of the year - well, nobody might be playing for them yet.'"
He was a little wobbly last night, but nothing that won't be quickly put right. I thought he looked the business in the Salford game. Looks a really strong young athlete now.

| In terms of pure athleticism, and attitude, Newman is the best young player to come through in years. I get the impression, he's not going to be the best centre to play outside of, but he has the right attitude to take him to the top. He has the attributes that I think the likes of Walters and McClelland currently lack.

| Just on Newman, I got there early last night and he went through quite a long routine with a trainer on the pitch around an hour before kick off, with nobody else on the pitch. Most of it was very simple stretching and flexing rather than intense, top flight athlete stuff.
I wonder if he may be given a rest on Sunday. Not sure 3 games in 9 days is what he needs as a reintroduction.
A big draw back of having no reserves is it’s straight into SL after long lay-off. Same goes for Callum M who was cramping after an hour v Salford.

Newman went through the same routine before the Salford home game last week as well..at the time I was concerned it was a late fitness worry to see if he could play or not

| Newman is flashy in attack sometimes (although I've never seen a player pass less than him!). He'll give you tackle busts and evasion.
What I was more impressed with was his D - there was a period where they made a line break and Harry tracked back, took the Hull man down and then made the next two tackle as well to keep them out. His attitude is outstanding and I thought he played pretty well last night in the round.
Whether he needs a rest - very possibly so and we have an able replacement at left centre in Liam Sutcliffe. We'll need to use some rotation to get through the next couple of fixtures.

| Our scramble & goal line D was excellent in an otherwise sloppy & poor 1st half.
Saying that it shouldnt be under estimated how good that win was against a huge destructive FC pack.
We lost Mellor early as well but we dug deep & in the end our fitness & quality got us a well deserved win.
Onto individual performances , i thought Myler was class Mik & Prior lead the pack & Dwyer was excellent from the bench.
I agree with Seth i think Hurrell is done.
Ive been vocal about Mclellend getting more gametime with a full 1st 17 however we looked better when Kruise went to 6.
Saying that he did get a lot of heavy traffic & took a big collision which clesrly shook him.
Newman is still finding his way bsck after a long time out there will be mistakes & some rust there but the kid is all class.
Another test on sunday hopefully Holroyd is back id pick Gannon over Donaldson & i think Sutty will play as well.

Agree with your point about passing to an extent, but will say that the pass he produced to get Handley clear early in the 2nd half was excellent. He'll get there, he's too dedicated not to. Also great to hear that Jack Walker is nearing a return.

Newman just gets over excited and wants to take the world on every time he gets the ball. Once he learns to offer threat with the ball he'll find he can have his cake and eat it, and add much more value to the team.
Really hope Jack can get back fit and strong. He's had terrible luck. Again, a player with mistakes in him but another great runner on his day. Be interesting to see what happens with him and Myler, as much as I've criticised Myler at HB I do quite like him at FB.

Myler is in the top 4 fullbacks in the league IMHO it’s taken him all this time to find his correct position

Totally agree. I'm not sure I would swap Myler for any other fullback in SL. Others such as Coote and Tomkins may have some better qualities, but for the way we play Myler is perfectly suited.
Credit to Agar for selecting him there, and Myler for turning himself from a player we would have been happy to release, to such a key member of the team.

Yep, Myler having a good game happens pretty often. And you need a top notch FB if you hope to win a title in the modern game
