| Quote nantwichexile="nantwichexile"BJB is a good back up for the first choice back 5.....but no more .... especially now that we know he is leaving. Is there now any real reason to try keeping him sweet?? However, come the end of the season in the matches that actually matter we might be grateful that Briscoe etc has been given some rest during the season in matches like yesterday. Keep our danger men fit and at the top of their game for the season run in is not too dim a policy IMO.
Robbie Ward should start.
I praised McDermott a couple of weeks ago for his kidology in naming Ablett at HB but starting Clarkson at DH. It worked a treat....BUT now he is fooling nobody and the futility of naming Ablett anywhere but where he actually plays is pointless. The opposition now need to work on the limited starting DH abilities of Clarkson only: not a great challenge. That plan has now been exhausted. Clarkson is pretty effective in any position, but especially so at DH.
McGuire again as I have stated elsewhere needs to be told in no uncertain terms that he has lost his pace....and rather than try to go for glory, when sent clear needs instead to be [i[uimmediately[/u[/i looking for his outside men.
Bailey and Kirke should now be making way for the likes of Mulhern especialy against these mid season games against poorer teams - like Hull.'"
At least McGuire is still quick enough to make a break unlike his half back partner who Green made look very pedestrian for his try. I appreciate some players cannot be criticised on here but it would be great if some posters didn't watch games through rose-tinted glasses?

| Quote nantwichexile="nantwichexile"I agree with you bringing on Sutcliffe with Sinfield moving to DH was working a treat....playing Sutcliffe at RC was a mistake but maybe a good game to have that highlighted.
Can you really see Sinfield or McGuire agreeing to come off? Peacock has set a precedent there no doubt.
'"
Sinfield has come off in the last quarter of a couple of games this year already so I see no problem IF the game is well in control.
Peacock came off yesterday. I guess, Jamie Peacock of all people, didn't want to stay on the pitch
Sutcliffe doing a job at right centre might be ok if we had Burrow and Aiton fit and thus not having to re-jig and move Sinfield to hooker mid-game. Given that Sinfield was guaranteed to move then it wasn't too clever and a punt on Briscoe or BJB filling in at centre should've been taken. Whilst they could probably do a better job there I'm loathed to move Ablett & Hardaker away from their current positions of 2nd Row & FB respectively to play centre.

Oh don't worry...I can see the deficiencies of Sinfield as a halfback, but of the two, Sinfield IMO is still the more integral to the success of the team. He IS still a pretty good DH, captain and tactical kicker. (As first choice place kicker too for the moment - although I see Hardaker been just as good now if not potentially better. Sinfield is missing far more these days). What exactly are McGuire's strengths? He is becoming ever more petulant and is finding it hard to accept his loss of try scoring pace ...Burrow in his position yesterday would probably have scored. He certainly would not have reacted so badly when tackled audaciously from behind by the young Wigan hooker.

I know Carl Ablett has been listed as a halfback on the team sheet the last few weeks but he didn't actually play there.

Warrington bound unfortunately.
Need to give a few a rest this week I think, I'd bring Robbie Ward, Rob Mulhern and possibly Elliott Minchella in and give Chris Clarkson, Kylie Leuluai a rest. I too agree that BJB shouldn't come in unless we have injuries in the backline. I'd drop Ryan Bailey and Ian Kirke.
Hardaker
Briscoe Watkins Moon Hall
Sutcliffe McGuire
Singleton Sinfield Peacock
Achurch Ablett
S Ward
R Ward Delaney Mulhern Minchella
Clarkson Leuluai

Really? Jon Wells and Brian Carney highlighted Ablett as being the defender at fault when analysing the try.
Maybe the point is you don't know the game better than two professionals who are regularly praised for their good analysis of the game.

I completely agree McGuire is not the player he once was but then neither is the captain. Don't forget the whole team has had to be mucked around to accommodate him not wanting to play in the forwards. McGuire still offers quite a lot to the team - he is a good passer, great reader of the game and a better short kicking game than anyone else in the team - I know that is not saying a lot as our kicking game is pretty pathetic for a top side.
Burrow may well have finished that chance but one thing is for certain Sinfield would never have made the break in the first place. To blame all the ills of the side on one of the half backs is unfair IMO - neither covered themselves in glory yesterday and the key try in the game came directly from Green getting past the captain untouched.

Not sure how it was Ablett's fault Green just ran straight past Sinfield?
I don't need TV pundits to tell me what is going on in front of my eyes - I am quite capable of assessing things myself, maybe you should try it?

I did assess it myself, Ablett got done. You might be able to assess things on your own, doesn't mean they're correct.
Maybe Wells and Carney have rose tinted glasses on too?
Or maybe you're wrong?
I'd say the latter is more likely.
Having gone through a gap BETWEEN Ablett and Sinfield (with Sinfield being on the outside) how did he run PAST him? He never reached Sinfield? He ran past and beyond Ablett, it's clear to see.

| sal paradise - eh?
Ablett didn't push up, he held back lazily hoping green would pass it but instead he dummied and went through the gap ablett left. Don't know how you can absolve ablett of any responsibility.

Green beat Ablett on his outside shoulder, clearly Ablett at fault. Sinfield COULD'VE saved the situation by gambling on what was going on on his inside shoulder, but that only comes about when the guy inside you (Ablett on this occasion) doesn't do his job. Had Sinfield taken a step back inside he'd opened up a gap for Green to work the ball out wide.
Sal's just embarrassing himself quite frankly on this one.
