Jamie Jones-Buchanan has confirmed to West Yorkshire Sport that he will retire at the end of the 2019 season.

Right move.

Hopefully play less games next year and go out in a better season.

Is he being kept on staff somewhere after?

Its good that he's pulling the pin and also good that he's given a year's notice. He's a club legend and rightly so.



Having said that, this particular call is a year too late.

Its a genuine shame that issues around whether he should have retired earlier are even part of this conversation, but that's what happens when players stay on too long. Carl Ablett take note.

2 years to late

We haven't signed the decent 2nd rower we're crying out for, nor do we look like doing so. If it's a choice between jjb going round again or signing someone average for two or 3 years then my preference is the former.

And if, by some miracle, he goes out with another medal or ring, would anyone really begrudge him it?

We may well need him this coming season

What a great servant to the club and he has done the right thing by giving the club notice. Hope he goes out off the back of a better season than last.

I think many agree the timing is too late.

What i will say though Jjb rightly takes his place amongst previous "Legends" like Sinfield Peacock Mags & Burrow.

I don't mind JJB going around one more time. The problem comes from the club being forced to play him for too many minutes in too many games. The failure (so far) of the club to bring in talent to enable JJB and Ablett to be used more sparingly, is the problem.

I think stats-wise JJB has said that he’s still performing like he was 5 years ago. I still think he can do a job; what he can’t do is carry the pack though. Leeds will need a team culture next season amongst all the changes, and JJB is Mr Leeds. I’d be happier if he stopped dishing up dumb penalties at bad times in games - but that’s a criticism I’ve always had of him.
