Reported on Superleaguefans site that Wigan Warriors have issued S. Tomkins with a censure and fine for his actions at Wembley on Saturday. Apologies issued by club and player to Leeds club and it's supporters. Well lets hope that draws a line under his petulant actions and that it is a lesson learned.

Wigan will be hoping by doing this Tomkins will avoid a ban from the RFL ahead of the game against Warrington - hollow, the club should have banned him if they wanted to send out a message.

Maybe, maybe not, but still it is good to see Wigan RLFC acknowledge the incident and be seen to take action against one of their own. As I said on another thread, I wouldnt want to see a witchunt against him for this, he has to take this as a lesson to learn, and let his rugby league do the talking in future. |

After the BBC gave it such a broad audience on Saturday there was little else Wigan could have done - this is the very least they could have done - hollow gesture in my view. |

The club have done the right thing there, and Wigan as a club tend to conduct themselves pretty well.
Sam Tomkins, not so much. I'd be surprised if he's even seen what the Press Officer has written for him.

Tomkins will get booed in every game he plays in this year for club or country.
I'm not condoning the booing but it's sure to happen.
Leeds fans will get the blame though, regardless of opposition  |

Sadly I'm afraid he will. And as for the Leeds fans bit, I didnt like the inference that this was anything to do with the booing that happened in the Exiles game, as written in this mornings League Express. The booing happened at Headingley, but there is no evidence to suggest that Leeds fans alone were responsible. I'm surprised we havent heard a response from GH already! |

Why would he be banned, seeing this type of thing has happened numerous times without a ban being given?
I know this may be incredibly difficult for some but they need to look beyond the fact it was Sam Tomkins and move on. |
