| Quote Scabbycat="Scabbycat"The new coach has to have Cas in his blood, to install back the pride of playing or coaching a home town club.
On that basis the candidates would be John Kear, Daryl Powell, Mark Aston and Andy hay.
All born in or around Cas, certainly John Kear and Andy hay would jump at the job, maybe Powell, not too sure about Aston, he seems to be Mr Sheffield and doing a good job.
On Saturday you will see a different Castleford side, whoever is in charge. It was undoubtably a players revolt against Millward, I heard rumours everyday of squabbling, and even fighting on the team bus.
Cas to beat Widnes'"
not necesary tony smith isnt from leeds turned em into winners same at warrington . brian noble has had sucee with and without silverware at diff clubs.nostalgia and the heartfelt feelings have to go out of the window.who honestly thinks andy hay can come in and rescue us ? its got to be the best man that money can get if that means a man who is from aus america or featherstone so be it its a professional sport and the salary paid to such person should be the main motivation a new coach that and the desire to be the best so forget all the vowlsey andy hay mal reily nikau raper fair enough legends all of em but lets move onward n upward. john kear for me .

| I get what you're saying mad-dog, but I don't think John Kear would be an "onwards and upwards" appointment.
I think he would be a sensible option and would probably make the best of a bad season, but he isn't the guy that'll take us forward (if possible)

| Justin Morgan rumour over on the Bulls board. Probably no mileage in it but who knows?

| Hate to agree with Vasty (and others) but the Cas at heart bit doesn't matter a jot to me. Our board have "Cas at heart" and look what that's done..! A proven track record first and foremost, especially one which includes maximising limited resources.
Raper's first choice for me, even just in an advisory role.

It depends what we aspire to. Lower, mid-table mediocrity? He's probably your man, but apaprt from a reasonable short spell at Salford he doesn't strike me as cutting edge. Far preferable to Lowes or Hay, mind.

| just dont give the new coach a 3 year deal because if whoever you get dosent work out you end up paying money you cant afford if all these coaches are "cas in the blood" they will sign a 1 year deal with options

| Andy Hay was potentially the best Cas forward of his generation, he seemed to have it all for a back row forward. It went astray at Cas, he ended up at Leeds where he thought he was a hard man in an otherwise hard team. He has had a constant scowl on his face ever since & I don't think I have seen him utter a single word in 10 years. What he brings to coaching is beyond me. Powell on the otherhand I have admired massively as a person, player & coach.
