| After waking up Wednesday morning I was pretty gobsmacked at the result, being many ooo's miles away I have to rely on what I read here or in the Courier online, for information,it sure makes dismal reading.
The knockers will be after R M's head if Fax lose on Saturday, but who else is out there to pick from?
As for picking players I cannot comment about Murrell and his fitness or lack of it, but it does seem he keeps things ticking over albeit at a pace that is geriatric, if you want someone else you have to give them time to bed in, which you won't as you want results now!
What has happened to Chester Butler, played for Wales in world Cup but can't get a game at Fax, although named in the 19 most weeks, he will be the next one away to better himself.
A sorry state at present, don t know if I am glad I cannot be there in person to witness it.

| Chester started the Oldham game in the second row but to be honest i never noticed him.Think at 23 he'd be a regular now if good enough.

| A possible problem with the younger lads such as Chester is how often they get chance to play at any level.
The reserves league is so hit and miss with one game every "whatever" against "who ever" if your lucky, there's no structure or organisation to any of it.
These young lads show some early promise and the club brings them in but how can they fulfill their potential and progress to first team standard with only an odd reserve game once every blue moon.
It would be great all things being equal to have a fully functional reserve side playing in a fully functional reserves league but the facts are this is not the case.
Of the more promising lads who have come through the reserves it's well known we lost out with Nick Rawsthorne through internal dithering and of the others Luke Nelmes and Martyn Reilly left the club.
Not sure how much is being spent on the reserves but beginning to doubt in view of the above and other important matters if the investment is worth the return.

Yes, funding through volunteers, donations, sponsoring and a whole host of other initiatives.
From memory those that do all the work in collecting money didn't decide what to spend it on, that was left to the club and the club chose the reserve team.
Those that unselfishly do all the work for the love of the club would still do it if the club decided to spend it on some other area such as signing established first team players.
It's not free in that sense as the tens of thousands of pounds that have been raised and spent on the reserves could go directly to the first team now.
If it's so important to use every advantage such as loan and DR players to get the result against our nearest rivals, which ironically is often at the expense of reserve team players because there not yet good enough, then it seems inconsistent to run a reserve side when our rivals have largely stopped doing so especially when we are well behind the spending power of our main rivals.

| Points taken, but i believe people, myself included, tend to support more initiatives and dig that bit deeper when the reserve team is the benefactor.

Myself included, I have sponsered players and contributed and that’s what we are doing now, however after a week like this week I ask myself is it working?
Is anyone happy when we can’t field a full strength side and get the result against Oldham because if we do we might not get the result against Toulouse, that’s the reality.
Does anyone know how much has been spent on the reserve side since it was formed, over what period of time and who we have on the playing front good enough for first team rugby as a result as of now?
We are banking on the reserve team investment producing first team standard players maybe years down the line from a comp that has a game whenever the clubs can arrange something between themselves which more and more are pulling out of, sound investment?

| I was speaking to a relative of morgan punchard today and he said the reason he left was marshall.... he said he promised to give the lad a chance this season after the hard work he put in pre season and WASNT signing anutha half back. He said the constant lies got to him but would av loved to stay at the club but marshall asked to him to go to cas under 19s for game time..a team he turned down to join halifax because of marshalls persuasion

| If I were Punchard I would feel exactly the same. He could have played him against Rochdale . And on numerous other occasions over the last year just stick him on for 20 mins and see how he went . To have someone go without trying him is just plain bad management because you don't know the answer because you never found out.
