Thank you for your e-mail, which I received recently.



We have no plans to strengthen services between Halifax and Blackpool for this event. As kick-off is at 1700, we believe people will travel to Blackpool throughout the day. Trains to Blackpool are all planned to be 3 carriages apart from the 0917 and 1207 departures. Trains from Blackpool after the match are:



2017 departure 3 carriages



2113 departure 2 carriages.

fair point with the kickoff being at teatime but that doesnt help with the rush getting back. glad im staying sunday night. a few more maybe too if that how northern rail are gonna run

Meh, I'll give it a miss then. Wouldn't have minded going as I enjoyed last years but we stopped over. Don't fancy standing for 90 minutes with someone's armpit in my face and someone widdling in my pocket because they can't be bothered to extend a service they know will be packed. Heard a cracking moan from one driver as we were coming into Manchester once whereby he was slagging off the management over the PA system for spending all the dosh on the East Coast services. Don't know if it was true but it was funny!

This whole situation seems ridiculous to me - it is going to be chaos getting home. 5 carriages to take us home from Blackpool and these have to be shared with day trippers etc.



I have emailed the club with my concerns as hopefully Northern will listen to them, no disrespect to individuals who have contacted Northern but hopefully if the club express concerns then at least I feel we have done all we could.



One final option is a train to Manchester at 2020 and then the 2208 from Machester to Fax but as the one to Manchester stops at Bolton it may already be full with Leigh Fans.

Thats daft - take all day to get there so people can go on 3 or 4 trains before the game yet when there are only 2 to get home one is 2 carriages?

I would write back mate and ask them to put on an extra carriage for the 2113 otherwise its going to be rammed!

If Northern were a company who regulary had big events to transport people about for, I wouldn't see a problem, but they don't and have not anticipated the extra demand for travel between Halifax and Blackpool this weekend.



Halifax Station on sunday morning will be a shambles, the ticket office can't cope when it has more than 8 people in it, the platforms lack space compared to a lot of stations, and anyone trying to get on at Sowerby Bridge or futher along the line is going to have a hard time at it

Northern do run extra services for big events - they run two extra from Hebden Bridge to Leeds on Bonfire night - so it is possible.



I think they have just got it wrong and under estimate how many fax and leigh fans will be going via train. Gettin there should not be a problem - its the getting home.

I remember coming home from Preston on a Saturday evening on the same day the following Football matches took place:



Blackpool V Sheffield Wednesday

Preston V Sheffield United

Blackburn V Hull City



Supporters of these away teams fans were on the same train service, including those who had gone to Blackpool for the day and other users. How many carriages? Three. I struggled to get on at Preston, it was a living hell at Blackburn and people couldn't fit on at Accrington, Burnley (where the away fans from their game tried and failed to get on) and Hebden Bridge.

Just been to get my train tickets, and have been advised to go on the later trains 11.07, 12.07 as they said it will be very busy sunday morning, im not getting on no later train because i want to get there early and enjoy myself, so make sure your there early for the 9.17 train to guarantee your place
