Would have thought they would have at least had the basics of how to defuse a tricky situation , I beg to differ if it had not been for the intervention of the Leigh and Fax fans things could very well have got out of hand.

Incidently speaking of the Leigh fan I think Starbug may have just finally repaid Fax fans there for the "waste of time " trip we made due to a frozen pitch ,top man.

Can anyone confirm that the stewards actually have any training for dealing with this situation.

As for it getting out of hand there were a number of off duty police who hung around just in case it did get out of hand.

Some clubs/stadiums offer training to an NVQ Standard to Stewards, not sure what the actual Qualification is, nor do I know if it is Compulsory that stewards are trained in this.



Given the nature of the job (casual work) it has a high Labour turnover so training Stewards could become an ongoing expense, with little return for the council as many may leave soon after or even before qualifying.



Would it be worth the Stadium bringing in a seperate firm to provide stewards (G4S for example)

The Stewarding bill went up because the Stadium use the same Stewards for the Rugby as they do for the Footy and they all had to be trained up in this new qualification (like bar doormen) to do the job.



We had no choice in the matter of paying their higher wage bill despite it not being a requirement for the Rugby but only being required for Footy. Regardless, they are still obviously very poor in this situation.



Has anybody EVER seen any of our Stewards do anything to justify their existence?



The mention that the perpetrator was chucked out is the time I've heard of them doing anything!

I saw a lady steward ask a group of Leigh fans (NRC quarters) to stop singing lewd songs and profanities. They duly obliged but not before giving her some stick about looking like Susan Boyle. Fair play to her (and the Leigh fans) they did stop the songs.

And they promptly sung an unrehed rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables together.

Ah, you heard it. Leyther Matt was a bit off key but Starbug really hit those top notes.

And I only thought trouble occured at football matches!

We consider it serious if people swear at each other, in wendyball there has to be a death involved before it is worthy of note.

AND we mix together in the same area's of the stadium, pubs, etc in a civilised manner !

And we don`t all run on the pitch either , we just let Yob do that on his own.

This is the first I've heard of the trouble, (not been on the pc since Weds. or Thurs.), and I'm surprised to hear it. I sat in the Skircoat for the 2nd half so I would see the tries better, and left immediately after the game so didn't see what went on. Pics are taken of the crowd by Who'sgottheball and Mike Riley so, surely, these idiots can be identified and dealt with accordingly. When I was stood in the South Stand for the first half, there were plenty of noisy chants from the back, and many of them used expletives. Why? Is it necessary? Hardly a good show for a family atmosphere, is it? Do we want to end up with the reputation that Hull FC had when they were still at the Boulevard?



Identify the culprits, and get rid of them sharpish.
