| Quote Faxhali="Faxhali"I agree with Naming the Stands that sounds like a good Idea to me, However changing the Name from the Shay is not something i think should be looked at, It is and always will be the Shay in my eyes, Home to the MIGHTY FAX !! and i football team, Apparently !!

| I know its a difficult one, sentiment, emotional attachment all tug on them heart strings, to say no its The Shay and will always be, and yes i will always know it as The Shay. But sentiment aside it makes commercial sense to get someone to sponsor the ground. I dont think the council are in a position not to explore every avenue, to help the stadium be self sufficient.
If having all the stands named and having a new stadium name (not the new shay, worse name ever) goes somewhere to help develop the skircoat stand so the ground is completed, then its a scarifice i am prepared to make.

Sadly Calderdale Council and Commercialism do not go in the same breath mate.
But maybe in the new world they may have to do?
We can only hope eh?

| If Newcastle United can rename their ground then I don't see why it shouldn't be looked at, maybe something like the Oval or Headingley. The Lloyds Banking Group Shay.
Sorry for that one but you get the idea.

| Quote Darber="Darber"I think the council is really missing a trick here, maybe the stands names should be sponsored, we already have the Southdale Stand and even the rename the ground aswell.'"
You can only have a stand sponsored if there is someone willing to sponsor it. I know back in the SST days they wrote to many local companies (which is where the Southdale Stand came from) but there was little other interest. Certainly worth trying again given the now complete East Stand and recent success of both clubs.
Heard a rumour on Tuesday night that the Council are going to turn the North Stand into an all seater stand. Rather than spend money re-fixing the loose concrete steps, they can instead have them taken out and then have seats installed. Supposedly this is a cheaper option (cant see it myself), but we shall see.

thinking about it and it would be cheaper just to have the temporary concrete blocks taken out, all this would do is leave a wider than normal terrace step for now and then can be used as terrace until fitting seats in the future.

But you would also have deeper steps so no chance of that.
Seating would be a good idea, at least it would n't just be concrete for us to look at all season and somewhere for Calland to sit.
