I think this is a disgrace really and is punishing the clubs that want to aim for SL. How can clubs build a team for the future on a wage of 300,000 a year. Should be a percentage of your income not a set amount. The RFL are pushing me away from following the sport with every decision they make

| All a part of keeping the closed shop firmly closed. Although it could stop clubs going bust, what kind of a squad will you have if you go up? One so poor you won't be allowed in super league - that will be the next criteria!

| Quote VoteingThe changes, voted for by representatives of the Championship clubs, have now been approved by the Rugby Football League's top brass.'"
Going by my experience of their "Voteing", if anybody so much as farted, then it was taken as a "Yes"!
If the Clubs genuinely ARE ok with this, then I can't see what the problem is as everybody is working to the same budget (cough, cough).

| If clubs cannot afford to run to the current salary cap, then they should drop down into div 1.
The idea is that our league is supposed to be a stepping stone into Super League so the gap between them should not be increased.
How do Fax stand for next year? They've already signed up their big names and contracts have been agreed. How much is left in the kitty? Perhaps we'll be left with a squad of eight or nine players and half a dozen blue and White dustbins to make up the numbers.
This decision sucks!!!!
Goodbye to any future for Fax and the rest of non SL teams.

| Surely this should have been decided longer in advance We've already signed up half a team for next year, how does this affect our plans??

| Since all the championship teams had a vote in this ruling, it would be interesting to know which clubs voted for and against.

An improvement in recent defensive performances to look forward to then!

| Is this legal?
You can't enforce a salary cap on a club that has already committed to 2yr contracts, got to be a discretional element to account for this.
I am sure a good barrister would rip this to bits.

| If it's a "maximum" of £400k this year, why should it be dropped? Its not compulsary & how many of the clubs will actually be reaching this amount?
I remember seeing David Gallop (NRL Cheif Exec) say on tv that not many of the current Oz teams reach their cap & im sure same applies over here for all divisions.
